About the Project
The Aftermarket Labour Market Intelligence (ALMI) project was launched in August 2016 by the Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada with funding from Government of Canada’s Sectoral Initiatives Program.
The outcome of the project is AutoConnex – a dynamic website that offers unprecedented access to functional and timely labour market information in the aftermarket industry in Canada for both the mechanical and collision sectors. The tool sheds light on compensation data, skills level and training, availability of workers by province and occupation; future labour shortage and demand, etc.
In this phase, we have tracked 15 occupations in the automotive aftermarket industry. As more funding, data and resources become available, AutoConnex will continue to capture labour market data on other occupations in the mechanical and collision sectors.
AutoConnex is targeted towards job seekers, government agencies, educational institutions, and employers in the industry. This website supports policy development, educational initiatives, and strategic hiring.
AutoConnex is the result of collaboration between multiple industry experts from market research (DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc., CCI Research Inc., Paystats), website development (Industrial Inc.), education organizations (Let’s Talk Science) and others.
