Job Description
An apprentice technician is a training position to become an Automotive Service Technician (AST). They must be able to safely operate shop equipment, demonstrate the ability to learn and repeat basic mechanical repairs. Apprentice technicians assist senior technicians and perform tasks within their scope of knowledge.
Responsibilities include: Diagnose and perform vehicle maintenance and repairs; inform customers of vehicle maintenance/repair requirements; inform customer when repairs are finished and ensure that repair records are complete; check and verify parts before installation; and assist in general housekeeping of the workshop.
The apprenticeship has a nominal duration of 4 years to complete, during which they must be employed in an apprenticeship arrangement.
