Parts counter person is responsible for assisting customers in finding the appropriate parts for their vehicle. In a part store environment, parts counter people will work with retail customers and wholesale clients such as automotive service technicians to find parts and accessories.

General duties may include identifying parts (read catalogues or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices), searches inventory for parts, order parts, handle parts and materials, manages inventory, performs shipping/receiving duties, promotes products and services, prices products and processes financial transactions.

Promoting products and services in the form of sales and customer relations are important components in the role of a parts counter person. Selling the most parts to current customers and seeking new accounts is a must.
